چکیده

• A detailed analysis of the acoustic field dynamics resulting from optical excitation in SBS is presented. The resonant behavior phonon response guaranties validity SVA subphonon lifetime regime. We describe impact for modeling SBS. set precise limits SVA. In this work, we address stimulated Brillouin scattering process. There exists a wide consensus on fact that slowly varying approximation cannot be invoked transient present an where approximation. Our study shows Stokes interaction permits, general, first order treatment process theoretical current practical applications. An improved-accuracy model also put forward. Numerical calculations are used to support our conclusions.

Pulse Compression to the Subphonon Lifetime Region by Half-Cycle Gain in Transient Stimulated Brillouin Scattering

A new approach to the transient pulse compression by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is presented. The theoretical analysis involving the time-dependent SBS gain in explicit form leads to a nonlinear system of partial differential equations, solved numerically by a generalization of the split-step method. It is shown theoretically and confirmed experimentally that the phonon lifetime is n...

Comprehensive Theoretical Study on Threshold Power of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Single-Mode Fibers

We have investigated and developed a theoretical approach to explore stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) phenomena in single mode fiber. SBS happening threshold power condition has been studied in terms of fiber parameters and input pump power. To assess threshold power precisely, the pump depletion effect and fiber loss has been included by employing 1% criterion. The threshold exponential g...

Higher-order stimulated Brillouin scattering with nondiffracting beams.

We report on an experimental investigation of stimulated Brillouin scattering pumped with a Bessel beam. Owing to the extended interaction length along the diffraction-free propagation, higher-order Stokes components are generated in a bulk Brillouin-active medium with odd and even orders propagating in opposite directions. The spatial, spectral, and temporal properties of the interacting waves...

Near-forward Stimulated Brillouin Scattering

LLE Review, Volume 72 177 In stimulated Brillouin scattering1 (SBS) an incident (pump) light wave is scattered by the electron-density fluctuations associated with an ion-acoustic (sound) wave. This process generates a frequency-upshifted (anti-Stokes) light wave and a frequency-downshifted (Stokes) light wave. For most scattering angles the anti-Stokes wave is driven nonresonantly and can be n...
